How To Reset Your Breville Espresso Machine or Coffee Maker

You can easily reset a Breville espresso machine or coffee maker with the press of a few buttons. This is helpful if you programmed any custom shot sizes, temperature settings, etc. The reset will return those settings to the defaults that the machine was programmed with when it left the factory. Keep reading to learn more and find the reset steps for your Breville model.

When To Reset Your Breville Espresso Machine or Coffee Maker

Breville coffee and espresso machines give you the option to change some of the default settings that come programed from the factory. For the espresso machine models, the most common setting to change is the amount of espresso that comes out when you select 1 Cup or 2 Cup. If you ever find that you are getting too much or too little espresso from your pull, it’s a good idea to try a reset.

Some models also allow you to set a water hardness setting when you first set up your machine. This will tell you when it is time to descale your Breville. If you ever want to change that setting, a factory reset will be the easiest way to do it.

How To Reset Your Breville Espresso Machine Model

Barista Express

To reset your Breville Barista Express to the default 1 Cup and 2 Cup and water temperature settings, hold the PROGRAM button until the machine beeps 3 times. When you release the button, the factory settings will be restored.

Breville Barista Espresso Machine

To only reset the espresso water temp settings, press and hold the PROGRAM button and then the power button. The machine will beep once and it will enter Advanced Mode. To restore the default temperature settings, just press the PROGRAM button once within 5 seconds of entering Advanced Mode. You should hear 2 beeps to confirm the change. The Barista Express will then go into standby mode.

Barista Pro

The LCD display on the Barista Pro makes it easy to walking through resetting your espresso machine. Press the menu button to enter the main menu. Use the grind amount dial to navigate to the menu and choose Restore Defaults. The machine will then beep. This will restore all of the following settings to their factory default: grind amount, filter size, shot temperature, 1 Cup and 2 Cup shot settings. The grind size setting should not be impacted. Once complete, the espresso machine will return to a ready state.

Barista Touch

The touch screen on the Breville Barista Touch makes doing a factory reset a breeze. Simply touch the gear icon to enter Settings. It will be located in the upper right of the screen. Then swipe over to Factory Reset which will be towards the end of the menu options. Select this to set all programmable settings back to their factory defaults. You will lose all custom drinks settings.

Bambino Plus

To reset your Breville Bambino Plus shot volume, first turn the machine off. To do this, press 1 Cup and STEAM buttons together for 5 seconds. Now press and hold the 1 Cup and 2 Cup buttons together for 5 seconds. The buttons will light up. Press either the 1 Cup or 2 Cup button once. The light will flash 3 times to let you know that the programmed volumes have been reset. The espresso machine will then go into ready mode.

Bambino

The first step to reset your Breville Bambino espresso machine is to put it in standby mode. To do that, press the 1 Cup and Hot Water buttons together for half a second. Next, press and hold the 1 Cup and 2 Cup buttons together for 10 seconds. The unit will enter factory reset mode. Lights will then flash 3 times. This indicates that volume settings have been restored to their defaults. The brewer will automatically return to ready mode.

Oracle

To reset the Breville Oracle, enter the Advanced Features menu. To do this, press and hold the 1 Cup and then the Power buttons together for 3 seconds. Then turn the select dial until you land on “rSEt” on the display. Press the select dial to start the reset process to restore all settings to their defaults.

Oracle Touch

The touch screen on the Breville Oracle Touch makes it easy to do a factory reset. Tap the gear icon in the upper right of the screen to enter Settings. Then swipe over to Factory Reset which will be towards the end of the menu options. Select this to set all programmable settings back to their factory defaults.

Dual Boiler

To reset the Breville Dual Boiler, start by pressing the power button to turn the espresso machine off. Then press and hold the 1 Cup button and then the power button to enter the Advanced Features menu. Press the up arrow to navigate to “rSEt” and then press the Menu button to select it. When rSEt is displayed on the screen, press the Menu button once more time to begin the return to factory defaults. The machine will beep to confirm that it has been reset.

Reset Instructions For Your Breville Drip Coffee Maker

Precision Brewer

To reset your Breville Precision Brewer, hold the START, SELECT and AUTO START buttons together for 3 seconds. The LCD should show a flashing “rES”. Press the SELECT button again to start the reset. You will get a prompt to select Yes or No. Rotate the SELECT dial to “Yes” and then press the dial button.

Grind Control

Press the MENU | EXIT button. Rotate the STRENGTH dial to RESET and then press the dial to select it. A flashing “Yes” will be displayed. Press the STRENGTH button again to confirm. The unit will beep to confirm that the reset is done.
