Calories In Nespresso Pods & Other Nutrition Facts

Looking for how many calories are in Nespresso pods or other nutrition facts information? Generally speaking, black coffee (that is without anything added to it) is extremely low in calories. This is true for Nespresso pod coffee and espresso too. This isn’t that surprising given that water is the main ingredient in coffee. Espresso is about 90% water and a regular coffee is about 98% water. However, if you add milk, syrups or other ingredients to your coffee, your total calorie consumption will be a lot higher. Keep reading to learn more.

Nespresso Pods Calories & Nutrition Facts

Depending on what country you are in, you may or may not be able to see the capsule nutrition facts on the Nespresso website. In the US, for example, there is very little information. However, Nespresso did did respond to a question on a reddit thread and provided detailed nutrition facts for 8 oz of its coffee. Using that information as a starting point, I then took a simple ratio to calculate the calories and nutrition facts for all of the other sizes of Nespresso pods. If you are comparing these numbers to other beverages or foods, be sure to note that I used milligrams (mg) as the unit of measurement. On some labels, this may be displayed in grams (1 gram = 1000 milligrams). The calorie content is very low because these pods do not contain much other than fresh coffee.

Vertuo Pod Nutrition Facts

Since Vertuo pod sizes are generally larger than Original line pods, they will tend to me slightly higher in calories. Here are calorie contents and other nutrition facts for the four primary Vertuo pod sizes available today:

How Do Added Ingredients In Nespresso Pod Recipes Impact The Calories?

While Nespresso pods themselves may have an insignificant number of calories, milk, cream, sugar, syrups, and any toppings will push up the total calories in your drink if you use them.

Calories For Nespresso Drinks With Milk

If you are using Nespresso espresso pods to make milk-based drinks like lattes, cappuccinos, macchiatos or flat-whites, most of the calories in your drink will come from the milk.

If you are using your Aeroccino and only add milk to the bottom line, you’ll be using 120 ml or 4 fl oz of milk. This is the typical volume of milk you’d use if you are frothing milk for a cappuccino or if you are making a single latte.

If you remove the whisk in your Aeroccino and fill all the way to the top to steam milk for a double latte, then the calories will be higher.

If you are using a Nespresso coffee pod and just adding a splash of milk to your coffee, there will be fewer calories. Many people tend to enjoy about 20% milk in a medium strength coffee. For an 8 oz coffee, that is 1.6 fl of or 47 ml of milk.

Coffee Creamer Calories

Coffee creamers are typically made with water, sugar and vegetable oil. Many, but not all, are dairy free. A leading coffee creamer brand like Coffee Mate has 35 calories per tablespoon of creamer. Chobani recently launched a popular range of creamers that are made with natural cream and real milk. These typically have 30 calories per tablespoon serving.

Calories For Nespresso Drinks With Syrups

Do you add flavored syrups to your lattes or coffee like vanilla, pumpkin, pistachio or others? If so each pump is adding more calories to your drink. A one fluid ounce pump of popular syrup brands like Monin and Torani could have 80 to 100 calories. Check the back of your bottle to see the calories specific to the syrup you use. There are sugar-free syrups available that are 0 calories. However, they use artificial sweeteners like sucralose.

Sugar Calories

If you add sugar packets to your coffee, each one can add 10 to 20 calories to your coffee. It will vary based on the size of the sugar packet you use. It’s best to check the nutrition facts information for your specific sugar packets.
