Can You Fix A Blue Or Purple Light On The Nespresso Vertuo Next?
The Vertuo Next is appealing because of its small size, unique features and low sale prices. However, take a look at Nespresso social media forums. You’ll see lots of people complain about the reliability of this model. One puzzling issue is a mysterious light on the Nespresso Vertuo Next that looks blue or purple. Known Issues With The Nespresso Vertuo Next
Many people assume that the Next must be the best Vertuo coffee maker since it is the newest model. They would be very wrong. While the Vertuo Next has some unique features such as bluetooth and pour over coffee pods, it also has serious flaws. These mostly stem from technical engineering issues. There have been a couple design changes since the Next launched. However, these changes haven’t improved reliability. Next owners still appear to have more issues with their machine than any other Vertuo model. There are rumors that the company may have discontinued the Next as of March 2022 given all of these troubles. These issues include:
- Coffee or water leaks from the machine.
- Coffee that tastes like plastic because of melting internal pieces.
- A range of orange blinking light error codes. These are documented in the Next user manual, but they are not always easy to solve.
Then there is the mysterious Nespresso Vertuo Next blue or purple light. It is not listed anywhere in the coffee maker’s manual or on Nespresso.com support pages. What does it mean?
Nespresso Vertuo Next Blue Or Purple Light Troubleshooting
The blue or purple light on the Nespresso Vertuo Next is a sign of an LED failure. It may be caused by an internal leak or moisture near the LED components. You may see it after noticing a solid or blinking white light error. At first, you may able to just ignore it. You can try to press the button as you normally would to make coffee. Try pressing the button a few more times if it doesn’t work after the first try. If you eventually get it to work, try running a cleaning cycle after. If it doesn’t work, there is another tip you can try. Unplug your Next, open the head, and identify the piece at the top that spins and pierces the pod. Try spinning it around until it moves freely, then try brewing a new or used pod. If this doesn’t work, jump ahead to section on contacting Nespresso Support.
Unfortunately it seems that any solutions are only temporary. Many users report that even if they can get their Next working again, it usually stops working all together two or three days after first seeing the blue or purple light. At this point, the light may have changed to white.
Contacting Nespresso Support For Help With Your Faulty Next
Is your Vertuo Next still under its one year warranty? If so, Customer Support will be able to help. Many owners report that the company has been replacing the Vertuo Next when the blue purple light appears. Usually Support will try to send you another Next, but that will likely eventually give you trouble too. Many people report successfully getting Customer Support to send them a Vertuo, Vertuo Plus or Evoluo instead. You really can’t go wrong with any of these three. I personally have the Vertuo Plus and love it. If the rep you are speaking with won’t budge, try asking for a supervisor. You’ll save yourself a lot of trouble.
