How To Reset Your Nespresso Machine [Vertuo & Original Models]

Using a factory reset on your Nespresso machine can be useful in a couple scenarios, such as when you are trying to restore default settings or if your machine is giving you an error signal. How to reset your Nespresso machine will depend on which model you have (Vertuo or Original). I put together a summary of how to reset Nespresso machine models, including every Vertuo and Original line coffee maker.

When To Reset Your Nespresso Machine To Factory Settings

Nespresso Vertuo and Original machines come programmed to brew pods to a certain amount of time to get a standard volume of coffee. Some users like to try to adjust those default settings to make more or less coffee. Other users change them only by accident. More advanced models like the Nespresso Lattissima and Creatista range also allow you to customize settings like temperature and the amount of or milk foam (these settings options will vary by model).

Maybe you tried to change some settings and are not happy with the results. In that case, a reset will be the easiest way to restore the settings to what they were on your first day. You can then try to change them again to make your perfect cup, knowing that it will always be easy to get back to the original settings.

Why Else Might You Want To Reset Your Nespresso Machine?

A reset may also be helpful if your machine is having an error and is not working, such alert lights staying on after running a descaling or cleaning cycle. If you have an blinking orange or red light alert or a solid or flashing white light that you can’t seem to get rid of any other way, you want to try a reset. But beware, if you’ve customized any settings you will loose them if you do this.
